Second Cervical Vertebrae, also known as "Axis"

C2 has a peg-like structure, the odontoid process, that fits into the ring-shaped structure of C1(Atlas). It is this joint between C1 and C2 that allows for rotation of the head, C1 pivoting around C2.

Areas of the body:

Tongue, forehead, eyes, optic and auditory nerves.

Symptoms to watch for:

Blindness, fainting, crossed-eyes, sinus problems, pain around eyes, deafness
